Champions League

man u arsenal

Both games have been played in the Champions League Semifinals and the verdict is still out on who will emerge and play in the Final.

Manchester United kept Arsenal from scoring a valuable away goal, but got little value in a game they should have won 3-0.  Although the Red Devils created a number of glorious scoring chances, they came away with only one goal to show for their effort. This could be costly as the teams square off at the Emirates next Wednesday. With the return of Rio Ferdinand the United defense has been playing better of late, but you never know when the dam will break playing a team like Arsenal.

Arsenal looked uninspired for most of their game and showed very little offensive prowess. Robin Van Persie missed the game for the Gunners, along with Andrei Arshavin, who is coming off a 4 goal performance midweek at Anfield against Liverpool.  Arshavin is ineligible for Champions League play as he was a transfer brought over at mid season from Zenit St. Petersberg.

I believe Rooney and Ronaldo will continue to shine for United as they push into the Final in Rome.

Chelsea and Barcelona also look to get to Rome and head to Stamford Bridge following a lackluster 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou. Even though Chelsea is stacked with a number of international superstars (Drogba, Ballack, Lampard, Essien, Terry, Cech etc), they played a very defensive game and offered very little offensive expression. Barcelona dominated posession but could not bulge the back of the old onion bag. I look for Barcelona to get the away goal and go through to the final where it would be a rematch of last years semifinals (Barca vs. Man U). what do you think jack of all sports fans?
